Quartzite is an ore composed of silicon dioxide. Colorless and transparent quartz (crystal) was called "krystallos" in Greece, which means "white ice". The Greeks firmly believed that crystal was durable and hard ice. In ancient China, people believed that holding crystal in the mouth could quench thirst.

Classification

Crystal bowls are classified into blown crystal bowls and cast crystal bowls according to their manufacturing methods. The biggest difference between the two types of crystal bowls in appearance is that blown crystal bowls are transparent, while cast ones are white. After being manufactured, crystal bowls will be tuned by hand according to requirements, such as tones of C,D,E,F,G,A,B,etc. The tuned crystal bowls can under go processes such as dyeing, coating, alchemy, and polishing to obtain crystal bowls with different appearances and textures.

Sound

Standard-sized (5-14 inches) crystal bowls are usually in the fourth octave. Their timbre is pure, ethereal, the pitch is precise, and the duration is long. They are very suitable for use in occasions such as meditation, sound healing, concerts, salons, etc.

The three elements of sound:

Timbre: The quality (texture) of the sound, usually determined by the material and structure of the sounding body. Recognize things by the sound, and recognize people by the sound.

Loudness: The intensity of the sound, usually determined by the amplitude and the distance.

Pitch: The frequency of the sound. The frequency of the sound determines the pitch. Under different standards, the same pitch may correspond to different frequencies, such as A4= 432Hz and A4= 440Hz.
